Angie Akers, Brooke Hanson, Adam Roberts, and Paul Baxter prepare for a mountain bike tour yesterday in Marpi before they put their skills on display during the Marianas Cup Beach Volleyball Festival at the Pacific Islands Club. The build up to the Marianas Cup Beach Volleyball Festival is over as players from throughout the region make their final preparations for the biggest two-on-two action in the Marianas.
The players from the AVP were welcomed to Saipan with open arms at the home of the event-the Pacific Islands Club.
The Americans were treated to a two-hour bike tour courtesy of Marianas Trekking where they were able to catch a glimpse of Saipan's natural beauty before making pretty plays in the tournament. Akers said that she is looking forward to playing in the Cup. “I'm pretty excited to be here. It's all new so I'm ready for a new adventure.”
While Hanson is one heck of a player on the court she wasn't as sure of her abilities cruising down from Suicide Cliff to the Grotto on a mountain bike. While still getting used to the humidity, the pro said that she is looking forward to playing. “Yeah, I'm excited. I'm still wondering how it's all going to work but it should be fun." The first activities get underway this evening when the pros put on a skills clinic followed by a pair of exhibitions at the PIC. Immediately following, the pros will be raffled off to a lucky team.

|Ixtapa, Mexico - SOB Trips - Sunday, January 28, 2007 - Sunday, 28 January 2007|
I just returned from an amazing week in Ixtapa, Mexico with the South of the Border Trips. People fly in from all over the US and Canada to spend a week or two vacationing while meeting new people and playing volleyball. Brent Doble and I were the guest Pro's for the 2nd week of the trip. We played volleyball everyday, ran clinics and workouts, coached, made many new friends, and enjoyed a week in the sun having lots of fun in a tropical paradise. This is an incredible week that will stay with me for a lifetime. Pictures to come!

|Another partner change - April 30, 2006 - Saturday, 10 June 2006|
After a short run with Brittany Hochevar, Akers has found herself searching for yet another partner. She has paired up with friend and AVP pro of 6 years, Heather Lowe. The pair have trained under the same coach, Ana Collier, so the transition was a relatively easy one as far as on-court chemistry. Because of a low seed, this team will have an up hill battle, but they are looking forward to it.
